LONSURF (trifluridine and tipiracil) tablets
Trifluridine and tipiracil hydrochloride is approved to treat adults with: Colorectal cancer, Stomach adenocarcinoma or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma (a rare type of esophageal cancer). Trifluridine and tipiracil hydrochloride is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer.
Lonsurf is a medicine used to treat adults with colorectal cancer (cancer of the large bowel) and gastric (stomach) cancer. It is used when the cancer is metastatic (has spread to other parts of the body) in patients who have already been treated with, or who cannot be given, other treatments for their cancer.
A combination of two drugs used to treat adults with certain types of stomach cancer, gastroesophageal junction cancer, or colorectal cancer. It is used in patients whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body and has already been treated with other anticancer drugs. It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Lonsurf stops cells from making DNA, which may help keep cancer cells from growing and may kill them. It is a type of antimetabolite and a type of thymidine phosphorylase inhibitor. Also called trifluridine and tipiracil hydrochloride.
Trifluridine/tipiracil (FTD–TPI), is a fixed-dose combination medication that is used as a third- or fourth-line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer or gastric cancer, after chemotherapy and targeted therapeutics have failed. It is a combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients: trifluridine, a nucleoside analog, and tipiracil, a thymidine phosphorylase inhibitor. Tipiracil prevents rapid metabolism of trifluridine, increasing the bioavailability of trifluridine.
